I am a self taught knitter ( through countless books)
After knitting a few scarves and hats I am now nearing completion on a shrug.
I knit socks 2 on 2 circs and love it that way.

I was reading your profile and saw that we have a lot in common. I taught myself to knit different techniques through books too. You should see my library. My husband keeps asking me why I need so many knitting books.
I'm still struggling with my 2 socks on 2 circs so rather than drive myself crazy, I put that project aside and started back to work on my husband's socks. I'm doing the Magic Loop method with 1 sock on 1 needle. I really like it. I haven't given up on the 2 + 2 just yet.

I find books a great way to learn new techniques, I like being self sufficient and it's good for your ego when you can say "I taught myself"
Now I want to learn HTML and improve my blog so I'm off to find books on that!
